Defense Corrosion Modeling Working Group

last person joined: 7 days ago

The Defense Corrosion Modeling Technical Community of Interest is a group of people (both AMPP members and nonmembers) who have come together for the purpose of furthering a common cause by sharing wisdom, knowledge, information and/or data related to corrosion modeling for the aerospace defense industry. This group will identify the state-of-the-art in corrosion modeling, simulation, and data analytics and discuss the current gaps and needs in data and methodology.

    Hey Folks!

Reply below or email me (alexander.d.lilly2.civ@us.navy.mil) if you want to volunteer to champion the roadmap development of any of the below topic areas. Also, if you want to recommend an edit or addition to the below list, email me that as well:

    Physics Based Corrosion Models
    Data Driven Corrosion Models
    Environmental Severity Models
    Maintenance Aids
    Sensors: Hardware, Software, and Applications
    Data Storage, Sharing, and Standardization

John La Scala at SERDP-ESTCP is focused on practical end uses that will improve weapon systems and their sustainment. I will contact DoD and OEM personnel to capture the drivers and end uses, as well as user requirements for modeling. E.g. who are the various types of users (PMs, corrosion engineers, M&P engineers, designers, etc), what would they want corrosion modeling to tell them, who would actually run and use the software, and who would use the output. That should also tell us what types of models are needed, and how simple, complex or accurate each type of model needs to be.

I can also assist in the area of Physics Based Corrosion Models

    Hi all,
Here are the volunteers we have from today.  If you are interested in volunteering for one of these groups, please reply below or email Alex (above).  The first name in each list will be the coordinator for the group to start.  We are asking each group to start discussing your end use cases and identify stakeholders (can be specific people, specific organizations, or general groups of orgs).  Alex and I will update with a template to start building the roadmap before the next meeting.  We'd like to hear a quick update from each team and get feedback on the template at the next meeting.  Thanks to our volunteers!
