This specialty builds on your existing Basic Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 1), Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 2), or Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 3) certification.

Earning this specialty demonstrates to employers and project owners that you’re qualified to inspect surface preparation, coating application, and quality-control practices specific to bridge structures. With this credential, you can verify coatings work on bridge steel, concrete, and other substrates in accordance with AMPP standards.

Steps to certification

  1. Enroll and complete course requirements

    Highly recommended completion of the CIP Bridge eCourse

    Successful completion of the Ethics for the Corrosion Professional course or an equivalent training

  2. Meet certification requirements

    Current Basic Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 1), Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 2), or Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 3) certification

  3. Take required exams

    Note: This exam is available on Computer Based Testing (CBT) at Pearson. AMPP offers exam preparation guides to help you prepare for your written exam. Please visit My Certification Portal to purchase and schedule your exam.
