The CCI Level 2 certification is designed for inspectors with experience evaluating concrete surface preparation and protective coating application in both shop and field environments. Candidates demonstrate their expertise through a practical inspection exam and an inspection plan development assessment, both administered in person. The final exam is a written theory exam administered and scheduled via Pearson.

Earning this certification confirms your ability to interpret coating specifications, assess concrete surface conditions, perform moisture testing, and develop effective inspection procedures—providing employers and stakeholders with verified proof of your advanced knowledge and competence in concrete coating inspection.

Steps to certification

  1. Complete certification requirements

    Active AMPP CCI Level 1 Certification

    Successful completion of the Ethics for the Corrosion Professional course or an equivalent training

    Plus one of the following:

    • Active AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector
    • Active AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector
    • Active AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector
  2. Take required exams

    Certification Exam – Concrete Coating Inspector Level 2 Practical exam (administered in the classroom).

    Certification Exam – Concrete Coating Inspector Level 2 Inspection Plan exam (administered in the classroom).

    Note: The practical and inspection plan exams are delivered as part of the Concrete Coating Inspector (CCI) Level 2 Course

  3. Submit an application for certification

    Complete and submit an application for CCI Level 2 certification (2 qualification references and 2 years (3,000 hours) bridge coating inspection work experience is required)

  4. Agree to AMPP Terms of Service

Visit My Certification Portal to log and manage your work experience and Professional Development Hours (PDH's) needed. Your work experience and PDH's will be submitted as part of your renewal application but you can input PDH's at any time.
