Course format
The course includes lecture, hands-on workshops, quizzes, written homework, and assigned readings from the manual.
Days 1-3 of the program are devoted to classroom lecture about planning and providing third party quality assurance, job site inspection, operations safety, inspection of concrete surface preparation, and concrete moisture testing. Lectures are supplemented by quizzes and group exercises.
Day 4 will begin with inspection of coating application followed by a coating adhesion testing workshop. Then, students will begin the inspection plan development workshop. Following these workshops, students will take the CCI Level 1 written exam that consists of 50-question, multiple-choice exam and a hands-on practical exam on the use of inspection instruments. A passing grade of 70% or higher on both the written and hands-on Level 1 exam is required to move on to the Level 2 certification exam.
On Day 5, the Concrete Coating Inspector Level 2 certification exam is given. The exam consists of three parts: 100-question, multiple-choice exam, inspection plan development, and hands-on practical use of instruments. A passing grade of 80% or higher on each of the three parts of the exam is required to become an SSPC Level 2 Concrete Coating Inspector.
Each participant will receive a comprehensive manual with copies of relevant SSPC standards. SSPC recommends that candidates take the classroom portion of this course before the course exam and certification exam.
