This program begins with the purchase of the Thermal Spray Inspector Training Course through the course schedule page, which prepares you for the Thermal Spray Inspection Specialty exam. The exam is scheduled separately through your My Certification Portal.

You’ll gain practical, field-ready experience across the full thermal-spray inspection workflow — from surface preparation and inspection hold points through coating application and final inspection. Through classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, you’ll perform key inspection tests such as surface profile, coating thickness, tensile pull-off, and mandrel-bend testing.

The course also emphasizes safety protocols and compliance with recognized standards, ensuring you are prepared for real-world inspection environments.

No prior training or experience is required. It is recommended that you take Basic Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 1).

  1. Enroll and complete course requirements

    Successful completion of the Thermal Spray Inspection (THERMAL INSP) Course

    Successful completion of the Ethics for the Corrosion Professional course or an equivalent training

  2. Meet certification requirements

    Current Basic Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 1), Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 2), or Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (CIP Level 3) certification

  3. Take required exams

    Thermal Spray Inspector Exam (delivered via Meazure Learning / ProctorU)
